Quiz & Test Policies (Classroom Courses)

For Classroom courses using the Testing Center, students will have a scheduled check-in time to come to the Emporium to take their Quizzes and Tests. How that time is chosen will be up to the instructor of your course. Final exams will be able to be taken during final exam week, before the deadline, when the Emporium is open for testing.

Do not wait until the last minute! The best way to avoid missing a Quiz or Test is to arrive at the Emporium with plenty of time ahead of your check-in time.

Taking a Quiz

You can take your Quizzes whenever the Emporium is open:

• Come to the Emporium.
• When you check in, ask to take a quiz.  You will be assigned a computer.
  
• Log into the computer. You will need to use 2Factor authentication.
• Open a web browser
• Open PCalc.
• Open any course specific software (see your course information page)
• Close any other applications.
• Put away your study materials, and phone. You can use blank paper and pen/pencil.
• Navigate to the Emporium Website .
  
• Click on the Quiz & Test System.
• Log in using your VT PID/Password. (You will not need 2Factor)
• Carefully select your course and the Quiz you wish to take.
• Click the link for that Quiz to start the Quiz.

After you have finished answering the questions on your Quiz:

• Click on the View Summary link at the top of the page to go to the summary page for the Quiz.
• After you are sure you have answered all questions click the “Grade?” link to see your score.
• Log out of the Quiz and Test System.
• Leave the Emporium.

Taking a Test

You can take your Test at your scheduled check-in time:

• Come to the Emporium.
• When you check in, ask to ``Take a Test’’.
• You will be directed to the Testing Center. 
• If you have any personal possessions besides a phone and pen/pencil, go put them in the coin-operated lockers.
• Check in at the Testing Center. You will be assigned a computer.
• Go to your assigned station, and log into the computer. You will need to use 2Factor authentication.
• Open PCalc.
• Open any course specific software (see your course information page)
• Turn your phone off and leave it face-down on your desk.
• If you are at the very start of your testing window, the proctors may authorize everyone at once.
• Otherwise, request a proctor using the testing center start page.
• The proctor will guide you to enter the Quiz & Test system.
• Carefully select your course and the Test you wish to take.
• Click the link for that Test to start the Test.

After you have finished answering the questions on your Test:

• Click on the View Summary link at the top of the page to go to the summary page for the Test.
• After you are sure you have answered all questions click the “Grade?” link to see your score.
• Log out of the Quiz and Test System.
• Log out of the computer, using the “double-click to log out” app.
• Check out of the Testing Center.
• Go to the front desk to check out of the Emporium.

Taking the Final Exam

You can take your Final Exam anytime durring finals week, before your deadline, when the Emporium is open for testing.

• Come to the Emporium.
• When you check in, ask to ``Take a Final Exam’’.
• You will be assigned a computer.
• Go to your assigned station, and log into the computer. You will need to use 2Factor authentication.
• Open PCalc.
• Open any course specific software (see your course information page)
• Turn your phone off and leave it face-down on your desk.
• Request a proctor using the testing center start page.
• The proctor will guide you to enter the Quiz & Test system.
• Carefully select your course and your Final.
• Click the link for the Final to start the Final.

After you have finished answering the questions on your Final:

• Click on the View Summary link at the top of the page to go to the summary page for the Final.
• After you are sure you have answered all questions click the “Grade?” link to see your score.
• Log out of the Quiz and Test System.
• Log out of the computer, using the “double-click to log out” app.
• Go to the front desk to check out of the Emporium.
